She then worked as a legal assistant in Dallas, Texas for Baron & Budd, PC, a law firm representing people injured from asbestos exposure. Her work with victims of toxic exposures inspired Ms. Pellikaan to earn her law degree. In 1992 she moved to Portland, Oregon to attend law school at Lewis and Clark. While in law school, Ms. Pellikaan was selected to write for the law review and published an article discussing the role of federal vs. state law in lawsuits by people harmed by pesticide exposure: FIFRA Preemption of Common Law Tort Claims After Cipollone, Environmental Law, Vol. 25 NBR>2, March 1995 Ms. Pellikaan worked her way through law school, first as a teaching assistant in the legal writing department and later as an intern with the Metropolitan Public Defenders Office in Portland. A skilled trial attorney, in law school she competed on the mock trial team that won local competitions and advanced to regional competitions in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ms. Pellikaan graduated in 1995 from Lewis & Clark Law School where she was selected to the Cornelius Honor Society based on her strong academic performance and commitment to public service. When Ms. Pellikaan opened her law practice she recognized a need in the community for affordable, solid, thoughtful legal representation. She charges clients a flat rate fee rather than billing hourly for her services. This affords clients the peace of mind in knowing exactly what their costs will be, and they feel comfortable calling her with questions that arise without the concern that their legal bills will increase. Ms. Pellikaan personally handles every client's case; she does not hand off work to less experienced attorneys. She listens to her clients and works diligently to achieve a result in line with their goals. |
